DARELL C. ONSTED, age 67 years of Onsted, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at home. He was born on January 5, 1943 in Ferndale, Michigan, the son of Ross and Evalyne (Packard) Onsted. Darell graduated from Onsted High School and Eastern Michigan University. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Darell enjoyed sailing, learning, socializing, car collecting and was an avid reader. He was a member of the Durkee-Seager Post #550 American Legion in Onsted. Darell was a registered minister who conducted many marriage ceremonies and funeral services.
Darell is survived by his mother, Evalyne Onsted, sister-in-law, Elva Onsted, both of Onsted, nephews, Peter Onsted of Tecumseh and Chris (Kate) Onsted of Dexter and two great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Onsted and brother, Gary Onsted. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Dunn Chapel, Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Onsted with Pastor Fritz Kruse officiating. Full Military Rites will be conducted by Durkee-Seager Post #550 American Legion. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00P.M. Memorials are suggested to the family to help with expenses.
